The Albumaz method

From very old times many methods to win the lotery circulated all over Europe. Some of these methods have gotten to our days from which the Albumaz de Carpenteri Pentagon one. The writings of Carpenteri who was an astronomer, were translated by Peregrinus in 1882.

Here you can see this pentagon:

We are going to describe a method to win the lottery with it. This method aims to lotto games of 5 numbers draws, like the Euro Million 5/49 lotto?. At his times Carpenteri won the Venetian lottery with this method, knowing that the Venetian lottery has 5 drawn numbers from 1 to 90. He had tried some other lotteries with no succes, till he tried even one time to win 1000 ecus (old coin money)

Our approach is based on the last draw, for Carpenteri, knowing that his lottery has 90 numbers, was:

15, 3, 8, 34 and 58.

We need to keep the numbers in the order that they were drawn.

Place the numbers on the pentagon:

We are going to place the five numbers in the order wich they were drawn like this:

On vertex E, place the first number : 15.

On vertex C, place the second number: 3.

On vertex D, place the third number : 8.

On vertex B, place the fourth number : 34.

At last on vertex A, place the last number : 58.

Then we’ve got :

E = 15.
B = 34.
D = 8.
C = 3.
A = 58.

Apply numerologic reduction

Reduce the numbers by adding the left digit to the right digit (only on time), were applies for number 8, for example we will not do any reduction cause it is only one digit position.

E = 15, 1+5 = 6.
B = 34, 3+4 = 7.
D = 8.
C = 3.
A = 58, 5+8 = 13.

Add the triangles

First add the numbers of the triangle ABC and of triangle ABD :

Triangle ABC: 13 + 7 + 3 = 23.

Triangle ABD: 13 + 7 + 8 = 28.

Add the base of the pentagon

Add the numbers of the baseCD and apply numerologic reduction to the unit :

Base CD = 3 + 8 = 11.
Reduction: 1 + 1 = 2.

RESULTS

1. First number:

Add to the triangle ABC, the top E from the pentagon:

(A+B+C)+E
23 + 6 = 29

There, you can see number 29 draw at the top of the geometric figure.

2. Second number:

Add to the triangle ABD, the top E from the pentagon:

(A+B+D)+E
28 + 6 = 34

3. Third number:

Multiply the triangle ABC with the top E and the add the base C+D from the pentagon:

(A+B+C)x(C+D)+E
(23 x 2)+ 6
46+6
52

Apply numerologic reduction to this number and then you get:

5+2=7

4. Fourth number:

Multiply the triangle ABD with the base CD
and then add the top E from the pentagon:

(A+B+D)x(C+D)+E
(28 x 2)+ 6
56+6

Apply numerologic reduction to this number and then you get:

6+2=8

5. Fifth number:

Divide the triangle ABC with the base CD
and then add the top E from the pentagon:

(A+B+C)/(C+D)+E
(23/2)+ 6

Apply numerologic reduction to this number and then you get:

1+6=7

As you can see the fifth number has already been predicted, so the algorithm of the old text needs to be reviewed..

Je vous ai promis, mon cher Lecteur, de vous donner une instruction mathematique pour tenter la fortune dans les frequents tirages des loteries : j’en ai voulu faire moi-meme quelques epreuves dans celles qu’on tire ailleurs qu’ici, qui, a la verite, m’ont cause quelques pertes ; car dans la premiere que je fis a la loterie de Parme du 5 janvier 1754, je n’y gagnai qu’un seul extrait na 26 ; je la repliquai a la loterie de Mantoue, du 17 janvier, et j’y gagnai deux extraits et un ambe sur les numeros qui y sortirent, 38, 80 ; je voulus eprouver pour la troisieme fois a la loterie de Venise, qu’on tira le 7 fevrier 1754 ; heureusement pour moi que la crainte de ne pas gagner ne m’empecha point de charger mes cinq numeros, comme je les entendis nommer de tout le monde, 7, 34, 29, et j’eus mille ecus de gain. Voici la preuve evidente de ce que j’ai l’honneur de vous dire avec l’explication de ladite figure.

Un de mes amis m’ayant pris de lui expliquer la vertu de la Figure Pentagone, je la lui dessinai telle qu’on la voit, pour me conformer a ses souhaits ; et lui fis remarquer qu’en ecrivant les numeros extraits de la faon qu’ils sont dans ladite figure, il commenat par le dernier numero extrait, et le plaat dans l’angle A ; ensuite dans l’angle B, le quatrieme extrait ; de la dans l’angle D, le troisieme dans l’angle C, le second extrait. Cela etant fait, je lui ajoutai qu’il fallait qu’il sommat le numero A avec les correspondants E, C ; ensuite le numero C avec les correspondants E et D ; apres le numero C avec le correspondant D, et avec la somme A, B ; puis le numero D avec le numero correspondant C, et avec la susdite somme, en divisant et multipliant les produits avec le numero superieur E, ils se trouveront toujours trois numeros, qui fort souvent donnent le terme, l’ambe, l’extrait.
